STAHLLHEIM GORGET FROM WWI

This Gorget is something I bought for myself and once I got it home I remembered that I don't collect German Military anymore. I must say that I have good taste this is one of the nicest unit marked ones that I have owned. The lower rim is engraved with the unit (full listing) Stahlehlem Bund Der Frontssoldalen Eschweiter Gau Achen. The front plate of the Gorget is really a nice strike showing wear. The chain is missing along with one of the circular mounting rings. All three nuts are present on the reverse. I have a Bronze casting of the front eagle, wreath, helmet and flags someplace. I think that this is a great display item and if I only collected German items this would be in my display. After 55 years of collecting German items one's collecting interest changes. Condition very good ++
