Samurai Mounted Katana with Bo-hi
This is a very nice untouched, Samurai mounted katana. I think the blade is Shinto period so probably made in the 1600s or 1700s someplace. It is a very healthy blade and is 28 inches in length, so a nice meaty long sword! It also has hi on each side to help reduce weight, they look cool too! It has a suguha hamon which was the preferred pattern of Samurai, mainly because it generally makes the strongest blades. The nakago is unsigned and I suspect it had a mei at one time but I think it was removed. It was probably a gemei signature hence being removed which is done on occasion. The hilt is awesome! The fuchi and kasher are made by the Teru Hide school and made of shakudo and have beautifully carved waves with golden pearls. The tsuba is made of iron with a very well carved water dragon running around the edges. The menuki are os shakudo with gold highlights and a nice flower. This is a very elegantly mounted sword!
