N.Y.S. MAJOR MEX WWI MEDAL GROUP
This NY State Medal group is to Dr. Major James Taft. He served as the Surgeon of the 1st NY Calvary in the Mexican Boarder campaign. In WWI he served with the 108th General Hospital Co. 54th Infantry Brigade, 102nd Sanitary Train, 27th Division AEF. He was sighted for Distinguished Service in France while Chief of an operating unit, Major Pilcher formulated an antiseptic solution known as Quino-Formal which was used extensively in the hospitals.
