N.Y.S. MAJOR MEX WWI MEDAL GROUP

This NY State Medal group is to Dr. Major James Taft. He served as the Surgeon of the 1st NY Calvary in the Mexican Boarder campaign. In WWI he served with the 108th General Hospital Co. 54th Infantry Brigade, 102nd Sanitary Train, 27th Division AEF. He was sighted for Distinguished Service in France while Chief of an operating unit, Major Pilcher formulated an antiseptic solution known as Quino-Formal which was used extensively in the hospitals. Included with the group are 1-Mexican Border Medal no 32294, confirmed 2- N.Y. State Mexican Border Medal 3897 3- N.Y. State World War Faithful Service medal no. 1214 4- N.Y. State WWI Service Medal no.33642 5- N.Y. State Officers Society WWI Medal 6- WWI Victory Medal with Silver Star,w/bars Somme,Offensive,Ypres-Lys, Defensive Sector 7- VFW Medal 8- Set of stamped Major Insignia.
