USAAF WWII CHAFF

I have had this roll of Radar Jamming Aluminum in a box for the past 40+ years. Recently I confirmed my assumption that it was Chaff dropped from planes to disrupt the enemy's radar. This 3" x 3" x1/2" roll is wrapped in brown paper about 5 times and then in a light card paper box. The Aluminum strip roll is attached to a cloth strap which in turn is attached to a small piece of heavy paper. It appears that the roll was cut from a aluminum tube to the width required. The white cloth is rolled upon the aluminum and appears to have 6-10" of wrapped cloth over the Aluminum. The end of the cloth strip is a small piece of heavy paper square that would cause the roll to pull apart from the wind pulling on the small square of paper. I would again presume that the rolls were taken out of the transportation heavy paper containers and put into some form of holding the multiple rolls for release. I have seen photos of this roll with a small parachute attracted where the square paper is that woul do the same job. So which came first. This roll has never been unrolled it is tight to the Aluminum tube along with the white cloth strap. Just a neat item in the war of Radar, between the Allies and the German and Japanese. This roll of Aluminum came with a group of a B29 Pilot uniform and medal group. Condition Very Good ++++
