OFFICIAL TRIAL TRANSCRIPTS OF GENERAL TOMOYUKRI YAMASHITA

What I have here is a partial group of the actual period transcripts of the trial of Japanese General Yamashita The general was known as the Tiger of Malaya for his accomplishments in conquering Malaya and Singapore in 70 days. There over 400 pages of actual court documents that list the testimony of whiteness, photos of civilians killed by his troopers, list of civilians killed in the different districts, plus many pages of other killed civilians. There are several photographs of what looks like blotched attempts to decapitate some civilian prisoners. There is a diary of an American officer that I have no tried to read his longhand writing. The 14th army was assigned to him to defend the Philippines from the advancing American military forces. This is when the documented attacks on the civilian population happen. An American Military Tribunal tried the general from October 29 to December 7 1945 and found him guilty of failing to prevent his soldiers from committing horrible atrocities against the civilian population. The figure of 100,000 civilians murdered had been used against him in the court trial. General Yamashita was found guilty and hung on February 23, 1946. What is interesting is that this trial set a precedent called the Yamashita Standard, that a commander can be held accountable before the law for crimes committed by his troops, even he did not order them, didn’t stand by to allow them, or possibly even know about them or have the means to stop them. Added 11/9/2022 I just found this book in a box of stuff "The Case of General Yamashita" published in 1949 by Frank Reel. The inside cover sheet is dedicated to General Green October 15th, 1949 by the author. General Green was the part of the military governing body of Hawaii during the attack on Pearl Harbor. General Green underlined paragraphs all thru the book and wrote retorts to the printed explanations. Its interesting to see his take on what had happen to the Allied forces. As a side note I once had the chance to purchase General Greens 1940 Ford sedan. There were areas damaged during the attack that were fixed with lead fill. The official license plates were on the back seat along with the registration for the car.Unfortunately at the time I was a German Collector and passed it up. Condition very good+++
