GERMAN WWI OFFICERS TRENCH KNIFE

This is either an officers Trench Knife or a private purchase knife. It has seen a lot of use and could use some cleaning up to improve its looks. The Pommel has the fake release button on a typical eagle head motif. The pommel, and cross guard are a one piece casting. The Stag grips are held together with steel rivers. Both sides of the grips are well worn from a lot of usage. The blade is 5.25” long with often sharpened bottom of the blade and the false top edge is also sharpened. The blade has no markings at least now most likely removed by heavy use. The Scabbard has a steel body with an incomplete leather belt strap and retaining strap.
