WALTER L. BLAIN U.S.COAST GUARD GCM

The Coast Guard is one service that I have always found it difficult to find period medals and information. This Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal is engraved on the reverse Walter L. Blain, USCG, 16 June 1932, base 15. The ribbon has two bars attached the top Bar is for the ship Legere with the reverse of the Bar engraved 15, June 1935. The lower Bar list the ship Kimball and the reverse of the Bar is engraved 15, June 1938. The ribbon that the hanger goes thru is starting to fray. The CG Ship Legere (WSC-144) was a 125 foot Patrol Cutter commissioned March 17th, 1927. The CG Ship Kimball (WSC-143) was a 125 Patrol Cutter was in use until Dec. 31, 1968. Condition Medal and Bars very good ++++ ribbon starting to separate at suspension
