K98 BAYONET & SCABBARD CUT DOWN FOR FIGHTING KNIFE
This K98 Bayonet came from an old time collection and started out life as a regular Paul Weyersburg bayonet but has seen extensive modification to transform it into a fighting knife. The most striking modification is the grinding of the pommel down to a slanted angle that really fits the hand nicely. There is a waffen amp stamp on the top by the slot cutout. The grips have been filed down to better match the tang with no overhang on the bottom and with a slight grove along the tang on the top maybe to get a better grip? The blade length has been shortened to 7” with a false edge and a typical american style upward flair. The blade is marked 42 CRS with a serial number of 2199 with production run a. The scabbard has been shortened to fit the revised knife and the throat and runners are installed to keep the knife in and quite. The hanger has been made from a strap of some kind with a wire loop on the top to fasten to the belts or whatever. Condition very good ++
