ONE OF A KIND WWIIU.S. NAVY DRINKING GLASSES FOR AIRCRAFT CARRIERS

This is a group of WW2 Navy drinking glasses that I bought a good 40+ years ago from a picker I can still remember the day I bought them and a large load of stuff. Anyways what we have here are 25 professionally painted glasses for after dinner drinks, cordials. There the following aircraft carriers painted on an individual glass. A - USS YORKTOWN B - USS LEXINGTON C - USS RANGER D - USS LANGLEY. Each individual glass has the ships name the ship's logo on the bowl and the ships color on the base. The remaining 21 are completed the same way except that they are for various air squadrons Again with the name of the unit the painted logo and the planes inentify color. Examples are fighting squadron 42 with a black bird with what looks like a wheel on his feet, with a red and black stem and black base. Next Marine Scouting Squadron 3, with the name and logo painted on the bowl. The logo is a shield and what looks like a winged person on it with red & yellow top of the shield. The stem is painted red and white with the base painted black. The third example is for the Scouting Squadron 72 with the name and logo painted on the bowl. The logo is a bat hugging the earth, really neat. The stem is painted yellow and light blue. The base is painted yellow. This is a great partial collection and I wonder if it was broken up at some point between various officers. Explanation when I say painted on the stem it refers to the two 3/8" circle painted around the stem. The base paint is a 1/2" circle painted around it. I have never seen anything like these glasses before and have to presume the time it took to make them must have made them expensive items for the upper tier of officers like an admirals mess. Condition 24 ea excellent one broken and taped together
