KRAG RIFLE BAYONET DATED 1900
I bought this Krag Bayonet back in May 1994 and I don't remember who I purchased it from. But this is a special Krag bayonet besides being made in 1900 on the edge of the blade by the lower cross guard are three notches filed into the blade. The scabbard also has three notches filed in the outside by the throat of the scabbard. I would have to think that they meant three kills. I have seen this on WWII rifle stocks and in Vietnam some painted their count on the stock or notched them someplace. Anyways this is a nice bayonet the fittings are plain steel and the wood handles are in great shape. The leading and false edge of the blade have been sharpened. Over the years I had turned down at least four guys that really wanted the bayo. Do you think I can remember them now not even if they asked yesterday. Condition very good
