M17 WWI TRENCH KNIFE x SCABBARD

This U.S. WWI Trench Knife model M1917 was made by L.F. & C. It features a correct triangular 9″ black steel blade, that retains more than 92% of its original finish. There are typical runner marks from being in and out of the scabbard. The wood handle is clean with no knock or dings to it and shows the original color. The guard retains nearly all of the original finish, with small light cleanable rust spots from bad storage. The top of the guard is maker marked on the upside of the D guard. This K knife is complete with the original leather scabbard. The scabbard throat and drag or bottom fitting a=has the letters MS stamp into the medal fittings. The leather retains virtually all of the original surface and color. Of course there is a few spider poops on the leather that should come off. The scabbard has the standard painted black pistol belt brass attachment hook remains intact. This K Knife was dragged thru a small show about four times before the owners became realistic about its value. There is a small tag that they attached to the scabbard that reads, WWI Trench Knife Issued to Thomas Dickey DeVore?. They were in the late 80"S early 90's and Thomas was a relative.They had brought his tunic and dog tags at one of the many shows that they attended based on what they found in the house they were cleaning out.
