BROKLYNN CIVIL WAR MEDAL W/CASE

This is your typical Brooklyn Veteran medal that was presented in 1866 to their citizens. The top bar is blank (not named) the pin and catch are complete. The ribbon is either black or dark blue it late night time and I cannot tell the difference as to which color it is. The lower thin brass bar has had the mounting ring broken and the medal is secured with fine brass wire. I have to admit that I just noticed this even though this medal has been in my possession for a while. The brass fittings have never been cleaned and parts have a great uniform patina finish. The medal itself has sharp detail, must be an early strike. The box it came with is an old style construction but can not guarantee it is the correct box, they came together and is sold that way.
