WWI FRENCH CLOSE COMBAT KNIFE

This Bourgade Trench Knife M1916 and Scabbard is the standard issue French close combat knife of WWI. This knife has a wood handle held in place with a spaner head plate in the top of the handle screwed to the blade tang. The wood handle is formed to fit the hand and the cross guard is an odd shape of medal. The double edge blade is 6.75’ long with a high ridge running down the center of the blade. The Ricasso portion of the blade has the Bourgade emblem and name stamped into it. There are no other markings on the blade. The Scabbard is of all steel construction including the belt loop. A fairly rare close combat knife. Condition very good+
