AIR MEDAL W/CASE KIA IN CRASH

This Air Medal is named to TSgt. Harry A. Shade ASN-33315369 flying in a B-17 (42-25791 on a ferry mission that crashed December 29, 1943 near Rhys England. The flight was going to Southport in inclement weather which was listed as the reason for the crash. All crew members and passengers were killed instantly. There were 17 personal aboard the flight. The bomber belonged to the 8th Air Force 334th Bomber Squadron, 95th Bomber Group Heavy. TSgt. Shade was previously awarded this Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. The missing Air Crew Report list the various planes the individual passengers belonged to. TSgt. Shade is buried at Cambridge American Cemetery Plot E Row 1 Grave 87. The Air Medal has a full wrap broach with two Oak Leaves and is engraved T Sgt Harry A. Shade A C included is the AM ribbon bar with two Oak Leaves, a strip of AM ribbon and a enamel button hole AM bar. The case is named and complete. A sad waste of trained personal, I wonder what happen as no one bailed out of the plane. Condition very good +++
