WW1 ITALIAN NAVY CAP TALLY R. N. NAPOLI
This cap tally came off a cardboard display of various Italian medals and Unit Patches. This is something that has been in a box for years and I just took everything off the display piece. There was a coupleGerman items and among them was a really weird cloth German Eagle and Swaz.
The R. N Napol was a Regina Elena class Pre Dreadnought that was completed in1908 and served in the Italian Navy up to 1926 when it was scrapped. To me it was a unusual ship with a turret with a single 12” cannon in the front and rear of the ship. The ship served in the Italian-Turkish war and again in WWI seeing little combat action.
this tally seems to be complete as it has been folded over three times and warped around the cardboard sheet with two period safety pins holding it together. The tally has the R. N. NAPOLI with a Star before and after the title.
