FRENCH MILITARY BELT AND BUCKLE

Again something I know nothing about I was told that this is an early 1900 French belt and a brass claw buckle . The black leather belt is marked on the obverse and the reverse with number 126. I would presume that this is a unit number not a belt size? anyway the leather is 2” high and the belt is 43” long. That all i know. Condition very good
