WWII USM1 NAVY HELMET

First I have to say that this is an original WWII Navy helmet just out of the woodwork, uncleaned its just as it was in the attic. This M1 Helmet is a front seam construction with a swivel bale chin strap fittings. The helmet shell retains around 75%+ of the original light gray paint. There are rust spots and drops of white paint with a minor dent in the top rear of the helmet. The rear of the helmet has many stress marks from when the helmet was pressed into shape. The chin straps are held on with a larger than normal rivet and the hook and catch are brass with a black finish. The liner is made by Firestone and retains almost 100% of the original gray paint. The interior of the shell could use a good cleaning unless you like them the way they were found like I do. The leather sweat band is marked Cooper and the number 38. All interior straps are present and like new. Guess the navy guys did not use the helmet like the Army guys did for a seat, to wash in, and to cook and heat stuff in it. Condition good +++
